Good morning, Gary and Robin:

We returned to Canada on Saturday, and while the experience is still fresh in my memory, I wanted to share a few thoughts on our Battle of Normandy Tour, June 1-12, 2025.

Robin – as our guide, you most definitely exceeded our expectations. Your passion and detailed knowledge of the Battle of Normandy were clearly evident. What makes Canadian Battlefield Tours different is the ability to customise. We greatly appreciated the information on the role of the Canadians, and more specifically the Royal Canadian Rifles, as well as the Polish units and the folder of information you provided us with. Robin, you have inspired my son Nick to write up a piece on the role of the Rifles for their small museum here in Winnipeg (and he will make sure to credit your work). To my son’s surprise, little has been written on their role in Normandy.

The ‘boys’ were especially impressed by the level of detail regarding the Battle of Villers-Bocage and the actions involving Michael Wittman.

Your sense of humor is special! We have collectively incorporated into our lexicon: ‘Never miss a chance for a cup of tea or a wee’ and of course ‘Allez papa!” LOL

Our small group included three generations – with me in my 70s, my son in his 40s and the two grandsons in their teens. You ensured all were included in the discussions and the Q&As! My boys commented on this!

The rest stops at the local and small cafes were also special!

Most importantly, Robin, we gained a much deeper appreciation of the acts of bravery and the ultimate sacrifices made by so many during the Normandy campaign.  The prayers at the military gravesites were moving/poignant.

Gary – It was a pleasure dealing with you, and we certainly appreciated recommendations for what may seem like simple things, but have an impact, like the Royal Caen Hotel, which was great.

You have a wonderful organization with ‘Canadian Battlefield Tours’!
